Troy,

Use an external ds to identify the file, then use EXTFLD to redefine the
desired fields.

D xternalDS  E DS                   extName(FileName: {optional format
name})
D  field1                                  extFLD(newField1)
D   field2                                 extFLD(newField2)

Could some please give me a code snippet of how to rename 2 fields out of a
record format using
the D specs instead of the I specs.  Thanks a bunch
