I did this part O.K. The problem is that both files use the name LOCAT where one is 7 long and the other is 5 long. I went with the Input File and the Add records flag in the F spec. Was just hoping that I was missing something else with the rename capabilities because not many are used to seeing the I F with an A and it sometimes gets missed when scanning for programs that update the file as opposed to just reading the file. Try doing the fix in the Calcs instead of in Output. Define your output field and do a Z-Add or Move or MoveL into the output field. ( I presume the problem you are solving is differing field lengths?) C MOVEL LOCAT LOCAT5 5 for instance. +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
