In your case, the return parameter should return success or failure.

Pass the procedure the Address of the data structure. If the function
can't, for some reason, load the data structure, return an error condition,
such as 1, and for success return a 0.

For example:
C If LoadDS('T': SomeVal: %Addr(MyDS))
C error condition here, write to log, send message to QSYSOPR, whatever
C Return
C EndIf

Otherwise, if you don't care to use an error condition, don't pass a return
parameter.

C CallP LoadDS('T': SomeVal: %Addr(MyDS))
