Simon, what is UIM? Why would we want to use it?  Is it green-screen only 
or can it be transported easily to other user-interfaces?  Is it RPG-only?

I too would be into this whatever way you decide to go. Though I must 
admit 
I'm wondering what's in store for UIM with V5R1 around the corner.

I've just made a start on list panels and it reminds me of trying to 
reverse engineer command creation from the CL Programming guide...
