  • Subject: Give me my AS/400 stuff for free, please

Changed the subject line...

One other point that I meant to make, but by the time I got to the
proper location in the post, I of course forgot... (I've got to quit
eating lead in the mornings)...

This free support stuff you see floating around the newsgroups and
such... While there is a good bit of sound advice and helpful hints, the
overwhelming majority of posts are misinformation - just flat out wrong
or bad advice. On the other hand, while the magazine business may not be
perfect in getting it right all the time, the proportion of information
to misinformation is FAR better than you'll find floating around the
"free society". That's because the magazines typically employ those in
the know, but more so because there are validation processes in place.
And as Brad points out, the quality goes up in an environment where the
information goes up.

I know that if I, or someone I love, has a catastrophic disease and I
have the money to do so, I'm going to pay the high cost of good medical
care rather than go to the free clinic. How about you?
