Reading barcodes and OCR

Hi All,

I am looking for some direction in making a program capable of reading
barcodes and/or OCR.

We have a program that needs to read 3 fields as one combined field.

So far what I have thought of doing is to enable a single combined field and
position the cursor to that field for input.  Then after I read it, I would
split the field into the appropriate pieces for processing.

My questions are; how do I tell the program or scanner what type of barcode
to read, and how do I tell the dspf that it is a barcode field?
