The problem is that there is no RPT for RPGIV.  For an RPT program the
compiler makes two passes over the source to put all the I, E & C specs etc.
in the copybook in the right place.  The RPGIV compiler does not have this
function.

Maybe splitting the copybooks into separate members for each spec type and
changing the source type to RPG would help, but that again is probably a
major rewrite.

Hi all!

We are in the process of converting all our RPG III and RPT programs to RPG
IV
(ILE).

The problem lies in the fact that the system makes extensive use of
copybooks,
but if you convert a RPT program, the copybook is automatically included in
the
converted source.  This defies the whole idea of copybooks.

How have you guys adressed this problem? It will be next to impossible to
convert the programs, delete the included source, and change the converted
program to use a copybook again. (it will be like rewriting 80% of the
system!)

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!
