No, I think he is tryign to say:
     
C     Eval   Status = 'Loaded'
C     Eval   WaitTime = 12
C     Eval   Cost = 34.55
C
C     Eval   X = 'STATUS'
C *** here he wants to show the value of the STATUS variable, 'Loaded', because 
C *** the X variable contains the text Status, which is the variable name for 
it.
