The fun part is converting the "C" function headers to RPGLE. Yes it can be done. I am no "C" expert, don't even have a "C" compiler to play with), But I have converted some of the "C" api Header that IBM gives us to RPGLE for TCP/IP Sockets stuff. I found a great book that is C for RPG programmers. It gives you examples in RPGIII. By Jennifer Hamilton ISBN 0-9628743-6-1 Duke Press As for IBM doc's, I found this on the softcopy CD OS/400 Network File System Support Version 4 Document Number SC41-5714-01 QB3ADC01 is the softcopy ID. QB3AVA04 is the softcopy bookshelf with all the API books. Christopher K. Introduction APIs The APIs that perform operations on integrated file system directories and stream files are in the form of C language functions. You have a choice of two sets of functions, either of which you can use in programs that are created using Integrated Language Environment (ILE) C/400: * Integrated file system C functions that are included in OS/400. * C functions provided by the ILE C/400 licensed program. So I took that to mean that I couldn't use them in RPG-IV. Yes? No? Do you have any examples? I think I need to use QHFWRTSF, as well as the APIs to open & close the stream file. Or should I first pursue writing to a flatfile, then using CPYTOSTMF? Oh, and if by chance I _can_ use the IFS stream file APIs, where the @#$% can I find the documentation for them? - Dan Bale +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
