Karen Herbelin - Readers Digest 3/2000 -----Original Message----- From: Bale, Dan [mailto:DBale@TFSA.Textron.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 15, 2000 10:33 AM To: 'RPG400-L@midrange.com' Subject: Create a stream file in RPG? I am trying to determine how to output to a stream file in RPG IV. Essentially, I am trying to create an .RTF document file on the 400, so that I can open it in Wordpad, or even MS Word. I am trying to do a homegrown green-screen documentation utility so that I can include 5250 screen prints with all the highlighting & underscores in a Word document. Since Word understands RTF, and RTF is relatively simple to build and can handle the bold and underlining attributes, I figured the programming would be pretty easy. But it seems that I need to output to a stream file. I searched for "stream file" and did not find any reference in the ILE-RPG manuals. Will I just have to output to a regular flatfile with, say, a record length of 500, output one record per print line and use CPYTOSTMF? Answer to the inevitable question: Because I am a travelling contractor and this is doable. The inevitable question: Why not just buy a package to do this?
