I don't know a sysval, too, but i'd prefer to retrieve the controlling
subsystem (QCTLSBSD) and read the first message in the job's joblog, which
tells when the controlling subsystem started.

That does not necessarily mean that the AS/400 did an IPL, but it may be the
fact in James' environment.


To wait in a RPG program can be achieved by e.g. a call to QCMDEXC with a
DLYJOB, you might wait n seconds for a data queue entry or for end-of-file,
maybe there are some more possibilities to wait with a minimum of cpu load.
