Alan, I agree that forcing you to buy a C compiler is a poor idea, they should have added the support without making a separate compiler a requirement. I have heard that the debugger does some on-the-fly compiling, and it doesn't require a separate product. Luckily, You can still write RPG stored procedures. The C compiler is a lot less expensive on the smaller systems, on my system the list price was $1,200. David Morris >>> Alan Campin <Alan.Campin@CaseLogic.com> 10/12/99 09:49AM >>> I sure would like to know which Marketing genius at IBM came up the idea that you had to buy a "C" compiler in order to write SQL stored procedures. I can understand the need for SQL development kit although I don't think it is really needed but having to have a "C" compiler at $3,000 bucks! Develop a powerful new tools and then virtually preclude 99% of your customers from being able to use it! O'Well, guess I should get busy and learn NT. +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
