I took his use of the word "dead" to mean it causes no action. I didn't get the sense you are using of RPG=Latin. ADD isn't dead because it does an act, a data structure is "dead" because it just lays there doing nothing, MULT isn't dead because it causes things to happen; KLIST is dead because it just lays there doing nothing.
