I hear you about the ILE.  For me personally that was the biggest benefit of 
having 
Jon Paris come to our location and instruct us.

At my site, we did the following:
Started using RPGIV with no special training. We first converted RPGIII 
programs with the CVT... command. Most of the changes , we learned from the 
midrange and news400 magazine. I also used an ibm toturial (on 2 disquette) 
that help by showing side by side the difference between RPG III and IV (sorry, 
i dont have that program anmore and i dont remember its name). Currently, we 
use RPGIV but we do not use ILE (everything is compiled with activation group 
*CALLER). The syntax of RPGIV is easy but my people have more trouble with the 
ILE concept.
