This describes my shop almost exactly. One guy bought a book which we passed around. It's shocking, but the IBM manuals are pretty good, particularly the general ILE manual. (I can't believe I just said that.) A year after we started using RPGIV for all new development, some of us got to go to a Brian Meyers one day class. We don't use ILE much, but it's more an problem of setting housekeeping standards (we've never had the meeting) than anything else. -----Original Message----- From: Denis Robitaille [mailto:DRobitaille@cascades.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 21, 1999 6:41 AM To: RPG400-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: conversion to ILE At my site, we did the following: Started using RPGIV with no special training. We first converted RPGIII programs with the CVT... command. Most of the changes , we learned from the midrange and news400 magazine. I also used an ibm toturial (on 2 disquette) that help by showing side by side the difference between RPG III and IV (sorry, i dont have that program anmore and i dont remember its name). Currently, we use RPGIV but we do not use ILE (everything is compiled with activation group *CALLER). The syntax of RPGIV is easy but my people have more trouble with the ILE concept.
