>> As long as you're on this thread :-) may I ask about error handling in the mixed environment (AG QILE vs AG *DFTACTGRP) I am calling this QILE pgm from an OPM CL program. I'm not going to get any nasty surprises, am I? The majority of the problems in error handling arise when you are repeatedly crossing the ILE/OPM boundary. If you have a CL program in OPM calling an ILE program, doing all of its work and then returning, you're not likely to see a lot of problems. If on the other hand the ILE program represents a frequently called function so that you are back and forwards all the time you have to be more cautious. Even so, the major problem lies with things like coding an error indictor on the RPG CALL and then not doing anything with it. The compiler considers that the indicator means that the programmer wants to handle errors, so any error is "swallowed" by setting the indicator and will never be seen unless the programmer uses the indicator. An OPM program would still have displayed the "Cancel Dump, etc...." message. As for other problems, if you do proper error handling you won't have much of a problem - most difficulties arise with unhandled error behaving differently. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This is the RPG/400 Discussion Mailing List!
