Hi,

We use an AS/400 software package called Messenger Plus by Bytware
1-800-932-5557. We have been using this for about a year and a half
and it works great. The cost was approx. $1200(when we bought it).

The software supports numeric and alphanumeric pagers. It comes with
a ton of predefined monitoring options such as : storage over 90%, or
a user taking more than x % of the system, monitor qsysopr msgq for
any messages needing a reply etc.

The package is easy to install and configure. We have not had any
problems with bugs or with it crashing.

Hi all,

The other day my manager whilst walking past the mess I call a desk, dumped
a new pager on my desk and said 'Here set this up so I get a message when
there is a problem with over night processing'.
As far as I can tell I'm to set the pager up so that it sends coded numeric
messages when some of the more crucial batch jobs bomb out overnight. I've
looked at the pager, it's one of those 'Mercury Mini Call' models. I have
thought it through and can see how to achieve it in theory, but am at a
loss as to where to start. Do I need any special software to run on the
400? Has anyone done this, who could offer some advice? Know of any
documentation/Faq'a of the net?

Any help would be much appreciated

Simon
