Windows firewall has an entry for "Remote Desktop", can't speak for
Symantec. However, IIRC, RDP needs TCP/3389, so if you open that port
you should be ok.

Ah, well, another possibility. The PC came with a 90-day trial of
Symantec's 
Internet Security product which I turned on, and which turned off 
Microsoft's firewall in preference for its own. 

Will I see a setting for RDP (explicitly, or "Remote Desktop")?
