Alan,

Willing to share the change needed in the fastcgi.conf file?

Thanks, Jon. Yes, as part of our PHP practice we are supporting and migrating shops where open PHP RPMs are a good fit. ODBC is working well. Load tests show excellent performance. We can also update the PHP version pretty easily. One thing to watch out for—the standard RPM doesn’t have all the extensions people may be using. We are building them. Ldap, for example. I like the fact that the PHPRPMs are 64-bit, so we don’t need to do the PASE 32-bit LDR_CNTRL shenanigans. About web servers, Apache still works well with little or no changes. Just update the fastcgi.conf file. Nginx also works.

Best,
Alan

It will be delivered via the new OSS support in ACS.

Alan Seiden has already deployed this new version to a number of clients and we'll be doing it soon. Not sure if Alan is on this list - he may care to chime in if he is.

Thanks for this information. Quite interesting. So what's the future of PHP on the IBM I. Is the coming more on the side of "Free PHP"? Is there already someone using it in a production environment in combination with Apache as a webserver?
