In this case I am trying to install on IBM i the same Python application I have running successfully on a Linux partition on the same hardware. Both are PPC64 but the differences are a challenge. The application is simple enough but I don't have many choices on DB: Sqlite or MySQL. sqlite hasn't been compiled into the Python version on IBM i so I though maybe I could use MySQL since I have that DB running on i. I am not familiar enough with the application internals to be able to "switch" out the DB component to use the DB2 connector option. So I was pursuing the MySQL angle. It *seemed* the easiest.....

Yeah, I could choose something simple and I have done plenty of simple Python apps so far. Just wanted to try something a little meatier....

I was searching and MySQL has a "pure python” API (their words)
