In addition, if it isn't important, why was it there in the first place?
Some might feel the same way about main memory, if the program can be
purged from main memory now why was that program ever put into main memory?

Some of these directories in the /tmp genre are just assumed that they can
be cleared periodically. Or, as some do, use some scripts to clear out
files over x days old. If some application is using them and expect them
to be there upon a system restore, etc then they're in the wrong line of
work.
And, as pointed out numerous times, some of these objects are perpetually
locked and will never be able to be saved successfully anyway. So why
flood the joblogs with locked object messages to the point you start
ignoring critical messages?
