I have seen multiple vendors use /tmp files in various ways, and not always
trash.. and sometimes useful in debugging issues.
I wouldn't assume everything there is throwaway based on the name of the
directory. That said, have in the past setup a purge of certain objects
older than xx days (was accumulating hundreds or thousands of files daily).
Know what you're deleting..

If they are required they have to be recreated somehow. Or just left
behind. Question for the customer is how important was that object(s) you
ignored?

When are things recreated? Answer is IBMs favorite: it depends.

Some are done by the DB system jobs that start even before the startup
program even considers running. Some when the specific LPP starts, some
when called upon.

With respect to IBM objects don’t worry about them, IBM has dealt with
them.

I see. Thanks for clarifying!

User objects on the other hand can become problematic on a recovery.

As long as they are saved, half of the issue is solved. :-)

What do you mean with "problematic" regarding recovery?
