no PHP.

Presto takes the 5250 screen and presents it via an Apache IBM i web server on the same system.
One Apache server is servicing over 300 clients.  We had to increase the threads and memory, but that's about it.

I can give you more detail in pvt if your interested.

Does Presto initially wrap the 5250 screens or are these all new PHP apps ?

I have not worked with it before.

I agree.

We've started with Presto for instant web, and then have built add-ons that are not available in green screen. We never mandated people switch from Green Screen to web, we simply made it advantageous and inviting. ?
We now have locations asking to switch to web because they have seen what other locations have.

This has not been my experience...

While the browser version of our Customer Service application is infinitely better, people who have been using the green screen version for 5+ years are a very hard sell. They'll use the browser in a heartbeat for new applications, etc. When it comes to the browser replacement for an existing green screen app, they'll use it when they need a feature not available in green screen -- But then revert back to the green screen.

New users won't touch the green screen.

My tactics are:
1. No enhancements or changes to the green screen applications 2. Add new capabilities to the browser version that users simply can't do without

I agree that the green screen may be slightly quicker for "heads down" data entry of a sales order... but we don't do that anymore (less than 4% of our orders).

Change is hard.
