The language in question, Jim, is PL/MI.
Thanks for chiming in!
While C and C++ have seen increasing usage in more recent times (i.e. post V2R3 and the arrival of ILE) as far as I am aware very little if any of the older code was ever rewritten.
See my other post: Good enough…
C is used for the more recent stuff like the ILE RPG and COBOL compilers.
Probably because IBM at one point merged the compiler code from OS/390, AIX and i5/OS, to spare three separate product instances to be maintained in parallel.
Interesting thing: With V4R5, the C compiler documentation clearly states it adheres to C89/C90 standards. With V5, this clear "what to expect" is gone.
I could understand all this fuss if SDA were any good
Well, we're talking about people. You say SDA isn't any good. I say, SDA is cumbersome to use for doing actual screen generation. Thats opinions, not facts. :-) Especially considering this is the second time that an SDA-being-cancelled discussion explodes from people more than mourning its passing. :-)
DDS lives on and can still be edited in SEU.
… oder vim, via ftp URLs from a Linux machine. :-)
:wq! PoC
