First some confessions:

I am not in any shape or form a hardware guy. I know most ins and outs of
the database and how to design, build and maintain applications.

On most sites I have been working on I would not even be allowed into the
computer room without someone with me.

But as it happens, I am working (mainly on their application portfolio)
with
a client that A/Has their own machine on site and B/Do not have anybody in
their employ that knows much about the machine itself.

Mostly things work well. I can download and attach PTF:s and do all that
common stuff.

But now there is a different situation since something called the "UAK key"
has expired.

I have been told that since the client does not have an "HMC" configured
the
enabling of the "UAK key" will have to be done by first creating and
downloading a new key (done that. It worked!) and then by connecting to the
machine using "ASMI" - herein lies the problem.

I have connected my laptop via ethernet cable to the "HMC1" connector on
the
machine. All PC-firewall stuff shut off.

I have tried (as seen in documents I found) to connect using a browser and
"htpps://" + a default IP address 169.254.2.147

All I get is a delay of five or so seconds and then a message that the page
cannot be loaded.

I tried other 169.254* addresses with the same result.

In my simple world it would seem as if I am using the wrong address but
since there is no documentation on site about any IP address changes (saw
that the IP can be changed) how on earth shall I proceed?
