× The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

On those boxes, if you get at least two fibre cards, simply boot the dual
vios from SAN, and virtualize the SAN storage via VIOS. Now the limitation
on the size of the internal storage is eliminated. If the system was
ordered with dual NVMe cards then the 3.2TB partition can be used for
test/dev etc.
This solution DOES require an HMC.

I believe you can use external storage on those. In fact I remember a
discussion on using VIOS to host external storage. There was some
discouragement on dual VIOS lpars on those models.

I'm a programmer, not a hardware guy so I hope this question makes sense.

My company has over 200 clients running Power 10s. These are either P05s
or P10s. For the large majority of those, the only reason they spend the
extra money for the P10 is to get more storage. The memory and processor
limits on the P05 are rarely an issue. However, the 3.2 gb limit on the
system ASP is becoming more so. The price differences between the two
groups is not insignificant. A recent example: P05 with 5-year SWMA ≈
$96,000.00. P10 with 5-year SWMA ≈ $201,000.00

I'm sure everyone is experiencing an explosion of data as we are.

My question is simply this: Is there a way, using VIOS or something else,
to increase the amount of storage available to the server? We are already
using various strategies to move some of the data off the server.
Ideally,
it would be nice to be able to have external storage appear as ASP like
we
can with the P10s. I'd really love to go into WRKSYSSTS and see System
ASP
3200G.

Thanks for any illumination.
