Just in case you're wondering
select * from table(qsys2.object_statistics('QSYS', '*CMD', '*ALL'))
where apar_id='CHGDFT'
That sql will list commands which have had their command defaults changed.
None of my save/restore commands appear in that list.
The defaults on my saves are USEOPTBLK(*YES)

According to some IBM documentation some really old basic tape drives were
problematic. So you'd save on your shiny new system and try to restore on
a more dated model with a 'compatible' tape drive, except the tape drive
didn't support this parameter. Sometimes more prevalent with third party
drives emulating IBM drives. https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/641899

Another case involved using CPYFRMTAP.

Then there's ensuring virtual tape images (not to be confused with VTL)
were compatible. Some could not be bothered to change their tape images to
use the different blocking as outlined at
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.5?topic=tape-formatting-virtual-images
