All HMCs have this port, IBM just suggested for a very long time not to use it. We did anyway as it was simply too useful! We even had one customer who hooked that up and never realized that there was a web interface or the port 2300/1 HMC interface! They complained about how crappy the HMC screen was and how slow it was. When he finally showed me I almost laughed.

So it's there, it just needs to be configured.

As previously mentioned the virtual HMCs are most coolest because you can jump on the console through VMWare for example and establish the session there.
