The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

We no longer have physical HMC's. On virtual HMC's you would use the VDI machine to get 'local' access to start the shared sessions. When we have physical HMC's we had a KVM which allowed us 'local' access. Our data centers are about 3 hours north or south depending on which DC you're talking about.
A big help is to do the following:
STRSST
8. Work with Service Tools Server Security and Devices
2. Select console
Allow console recovery and console can be taken
over by another console . . . . . . . . . 1 1=Yes
Turn this on! You can be in the middle of a full system save, lose your connection, connect back in and the save will not have known you dropped.
The only draw back is that when you start your console session you will get prompted for a SST userid/password. I know of one person on the list who had an operator who could not adapt so they turned it off.
Repeat for all lpars.
