Yes these are used.

HelpSystems/Fortra IFS encryption product utilizes these as well and although that caused some friction when customers have both AV and a Encryption products loaded, we’ve managed to overcome that.
Thanks to IBM and the continued contributions to the OS, 7.5 gives us new exit points for Encryption to use so we no longer have to piggy back on the scan ones.

I use clamav to the mailing list server to scan all incoming messages
for viruses. But that's invoked by the mail server (using milter api's).
