Has it ever caught anything? Like, have you ever got a report that it stopped a virus from being written to your system?

We used to run Trend Micro for Domino on IBM i. For years it never captured a single thing since all were either stopped by Trend on the desktop or by all email going through an external service first. Then Trend got lazy and stopped upgrading Trend Micro for Domino on IBM i to where it was only supported on versions of Domino and IBM i long out of support. So we removed it.

Then a day 1 got through... Damage was very limited. Maybe 1 or 2 PCs. Boss had to appear like he was 'doing something'. Effectiveness didn't matter. So we moved our Domino SMTP off of IBM i and on to Windows where Trend still did upgrades. And reinstituted Scan Mail for Domino on those servers. Again, it never captured anything. Since then we've moved email to O365 while still retaining an external service and replacing Trend on the desktop with another product.

Have you tested writing to a file with the Eicar test virus?
Just copy/paste the string at the link below into a text file in your IFS. I pasted it into test.txt on my PC and it was quickly caught. I'm expecting a visit from my boss...
