Oh, I am aware of the counting they are doing for Logical ID. I already
have some customers with some big logical partitions. :)

And a lot more 9 character ones. Most are 8 characters until you get past
partition 32 or something like that. Seems they use a hex .. 0-9 then A-Z
then after that.. (which is also stated in the article but I figured that
out a while back when cloud systems started becoming popular). The article
seems to think this is newer results.. it's not. I've seen letters for
years in the logical serial number.

Seems we'll be ok.

This will be intesting times for software vendors, as VSNs are designed
to be unique world wide.
Let's see how this will be adjusted in the next years when the
discussion goes on.

I am currently setting up LPAR #38 on a server, maybe i do not forget to
check out, but
we are not using VSNs yet.

What about the logical serial number returned by the API? I don't use the
API for serial number or model, just logical serial number.
