I guess I answered my own question, but I had to ask it first.

You can use DSPFD SAVF on each system. It shows the number of records in
each file.

Happily I am at 96% done.

Thanks for the help.

You might be able to see total sizes of the files if you look at the object
description but that is updated by block not actual size so it's only a
good approximation

I was hoping I could see the RRN of the record being sent. So if there
are
100 records to be sent and the current record is at 90, then I know I
would
have 90% complete and 10 records to go.

That's at best a SWAG (Scientific Wild A** Guess) emphasis on the Wild

It's as good as you are going to get but keep in mind it could also be
wildly off too.

As to seeing the line speed that's best done at the switch/firewall.
If
there is some monitoring software you could use that.

Check the file sizes on both systems. The size ratio could be
compared
to
the time and figure out the remaining time.
If 75% of the file is sent in 24 hours then 24 / .75 = 32 hours
total.
32
- 24 = 8 hours remaining.

-----Original Message-----

Does anyone know how to calculate the remaining time/bytes on a file
transfer?

I am FTP'ing a 185Gb to a remote system and it has been copying for
more
than 24 hours. I need to be able to estimate the remaining time of
the
copy.

The only information I have is the size of the file and the I/O count
when
I display the open files for the job.

Can I see somewhere how many bytes per minute are being copied?

TIA, Darryl Freinkel.
