Are you actually dealing with an *IPDS spool file?

8=Attributes
Printer device type . . . . . . . . . : *IPDS

That's likely the reason.

The ACS viewers and PDF conversion work with the *AFPDS datastream, not
*IPDS as far as I know.

https://wiki.midrange.com/index.php/Setting_up_a_printer#AFPDS_vs._IPDS

You should be able to change the printer file from DEVTYPE(*IPDS) to
DEVTYPE(*AFPDS) and the ACS or PDF conversions suggested will work.

What may not work is actually printing the spool file. You may need to
re-create the printer device as TYPE(*IPDS) AFP(*YES). Which last I heard
still requires Print Services Facility (PSF)
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/i/7.4?topic=afp-planning

However, if you're currently printer to a printer defined with TYPE(*IPDS)
AFP(*NO) over the network, then you should already have it installed.

Way back when, you could print to a *IPDS only printer connected via twinax
without PSF. But I can't imagine you're using twinax printers now-a-days.

Hi everyone
We are on V7r3
We create an ipds spool file but when it comes time to actually look at
it, the system says that we cannot do so
The following message is displayed

Prompting this message, the following is dosplayed

created on system NBTYS20 on 07/01/22 12:24:38 cannot be displayed,

or sent. Reason code is 2. If the member option (MBROPT) parameter is
specified as *REPLACE on the Copy Spooled File (CPYSPLF) command, the
TOFILE
was cleared.
1 - The file has no records.
2 - The file contains only blank records, graphics, bar codes, or
intelligent printer data stream (IPDS) transparent data.
3 - The file contains only ASCII data intended for a personal computer
printer.

We have to make a change to this spool file, but how can we look at it to
determine that the change is good
As we are working from home - printing the spool file will be somewhat
difficult
Is there some way via ACS to view this spool file
As always - all responses gratefully accepted
