To import from excel or any other "table like" format I have created a web
page with a large input field. The user copies the data to the page and
the program reads it line by line. Quite simple and efficient.

Luckily, our emulation package (BOSaNova) comes with a built-in file

Not as elegant as I wanted but feasible.

One last pitch for a Python (or Node.js or perhaps Perl) script, if
not for you then for some lurker or future reader of the archives:

Not only is it very simple to write an Excel importer (direct to PF or
Db2 table if desired), but you get to control the fault-tolerance. I
don't know how often the user will give you a spreadsheet that can't
be imported by prebuilt importers due to some data issue or user
error, but if you are writing the importer, you can choose how to
handle any given situation.
