Hello James,

But at present, our only working client for LAN Console is a very old CA (with an inexplicably busted virtual front panel), installed on an old WinDoze XP box.

I recently installed a new iACS on my iMac, but I haven't been able to make it actually work, and I'm not even sure where to begin.

Do you utilize a (v)HMC?

Connection to console through the HMC with iACS is easy (but cumbersome, because every time I want to connect, I need to answer at least five screens with HMC password, DST password, takeover console, and so on until I finally get the IBM i login screen).

I never tried LAN console, because I'm okay with the HMC console within iACS. I also don't know what that "Service hostname" field should contain. Maybe others can provide more information.

In any case, it's a very good idea to get rid of that XP box ASAP.

:wq! PoC
