Justin -

From a 5250 session, click on “File” then “Run the same”. This will launch
a second session to the partition/system that the original 5250 session was
accessing. If you don’t want it to be tabbed, look under “Edit” then
“Preferences” then “Tab Setup” and uncheck “Open new sessions in a new
tab”.

I must be missing something. I don't have this on a 5250 session:
File => Same profile

You're talking dropping down the File menu in 5250 and then "Same profile"?

My boss wants a way to launch another 5250 session from an existing
5250
session, without the main ACS window or using tabs. Does anyone know
how
to do that?

Ehm? Did you ever look at the pulldown menus in the 5250 window? File =>
Same profile did the trick for me. Writing this mail took longer than
actually finding out how to do it.
