This is complete bullshit. Unless you have a *very* elaborated router being able (and being allowed) to be a man in the middle for SSL connections, the same protection level can never be achieved.

Why would requests from my PC to the server be rejected or fail, but the same requests from another PC in another location work fine?

This is obviously not a thing related to IBM i.
