We have used wireless in our warehouses since 2003. I can tell you that the ONLY way to remedy your problem with 5250 devices is to eliminate the dead zones.

Years ago we actually switched from symbol/Motorola access points to devices from Ruckus. They worked way better. Even with good coverage, some of the older wifi stuff (devices and AP's) wouldn't "hand-off" very well.

We have a lot of racking, and two of our locations consist of warehouses with multiple additions (i.e. internal steel walls). The Ruckus stuff has worked well (even in the offices).

BTW - most of our RF devices have a mode that will show you signal strength. The Ruckus console will also show you individual devices, signal strength, etc.

Subject: Wireless 5250 & dropped connections

We have a wireless 5250 device, and we're having issues with dropped
connections. The drops are a result of wifi dead zones. The connection
drops but the device won't reconnect when the signal is restored because
the session is still active on the server.

I'm sure other people have encountered this before. How are other people
dealing with this?

TIA
