Ok, your on V4R5, and that supports much but not all of the SNA stack. What are you going to connect to that also support it? So learn is you want to, that’s always good, but understand that knowledge is almost as good as knowing how to make buggy whips. Not much call for it any more.

There are bits and parts that are still used but pretty rare. I would not waste time on it.

I'm a hobbyist. I *want* to "waste" time on it.

SNA was a far superior network than TCP from a security perspective however generating the NCP was not for the faint of heart. I got good at it, but geesh it was painful.

Honestly, I don't see this claimed security advantage here and now.

You generated NCP? For a CC attached to an AS/400?
