I prefer Postman and SoapUI. Swaggerhub (online -
https://app.swaggerhub.com) and cURL (offline) are options too.
We have couple examples in our site:
https://www.i2rest.com/index.php/I2Rest_Basic_Test#SOAP_UI
It shows how to test API calls to our i2Rest Server, but in the same way you can test IWS. If you need load testing, I think Soap UI is better option.
