In regard to accessing the IBM i HTTP server from the Internet,
network/security experts recommend having a "reverse proxy" server on one
internal network forward requests to the IBM i HTTP server, which is
addressed on another internal network. The topology might look like:
Internet <=> Internal Firewall <==> Reverse Proxy <==> IBM i HTTP Server.
Which is comparable to:
Internet <==> Internal Firewall <==> VPN Server <==> IBM i Telnet or
other TCP/IP Server.
Ask your network people about configuring a reverse-proxy for you, which
might handle user authentication and encryption for you. They should
understand the configuration.
