From WRKHDWRSC *CMN if you use option 7 against the CTLnn resource look at the digits after the C at the nd of the Location line. THAT is the slot number of the host adapter. Now look at the configuration of the host in the virtual adapters section at that slot number.

Most likely the one you used is for some other LPAR # and that's why it failed to vary on. The slot it references MUST be either for 'any' lpar or for the specific LPAR referenced (name/number) in your NWSD.

Once the adapters are added to the host either with DLPAR or an IPL using the new partition you'll get new CTLnns

No, they fail to vary on.

So the NWSD was successfully created even though the resource did not exist??
A hidden feature??

Where did you find CTL27 ?

Earlier you indicated that they didn't appear in WRKHDWRSC *CMN

Also did P080 vary on sucessfully?

Yes you would need to IPL the hose partition with the new profile to create those *CMN resources.

Also how did you create the new NWSDs if there are no *CMN resources to assign them to??

I think I need to add them dynamically.

Simplest at this point is an IPL with the new partition.

However they can be added dynamically too.

Oh THOSE, those are created when the vSCSI adapters are added to the host partition. Sorry misunderstood that you were just creating more NWSSTG.

So either you need to dynamically ADD the vSCSI Host adapters to the partition or add them to the profile and IPL with the udpated profile.

No.

Did you ADD the NWSSTG to the NWSD? If you WRKNWSD and option 12 it need to be in that list.

Also where are you looking? On the client correct? IF you are looking on the host they do not show up there.

They are not appearing in hardware resources.
Does the IBM I host need to be IPL'd for these to appear?

If not, why are they not appearing?
