I agree that adopted authority is the ultimate level of lockdown, Rob.  We don't have as stringent a requirement for security; we're more about defaulting authenticated users in a group to update access and locking other users (primarily our allowed ODBC access users) into read-only.  I know that doesn't match your needs, but it's good enough for ours.  But that's yet another argument for authorization lists (and group profiles).  Should our needs change, we can make that change far more easily with authorization lists.
