I'm reasonably sure (poising foot to insert in mouth) that Status messages in batch jobs get dropped in the joblog for your entertainment.

But we're talking about a batch job.

I actually *have* that construct in the CL program I'm attempting to profile:
SNDPGMMSG MSGID(CPF9898) MSGF(QCPFMSG) + MSGDTA('Restoring original source + members...') TOPGMQ(*EXT) MSGTYPE(*STATUS)

and I'm not entirely sure where the message goes when it runs in the batch job.
