Why your own system "as a developer"? Why isn't an lpar on someone else's system good enough? At work we have our own systems, but they are in DC's that are at least a 2 hour drive away. I go to those DC's maybe 3 times a year. I do OS upgrades, PTF's, full system saves, etc remotely. All of that makes me more of an admin than a developer. So how does having a machine close enough to lay hands on buy you anything "as a developer"?
