Our product (which is a commercial product, not free) has no problem with function keys.   I guess I wonder what would be the problem?

The browser sends the keystroke, and you can choose to cancel the event/cancel bubbling (which prevents the browser itself from handling the key).   It's not difficult, and works fine.

Why would a product have trouble with this?
