Unless you have 10GBit local network, check out for any VTL
solution which you can at least hook up to your i with 8GBits
(depending on storage performance).

When you happen to have VIOS, create a NPIV based config so you can
save all your LPARs using a single FC port to the VTL and you do
not block your local network with the FTP traffic.

Also check out Quadstor as an alternative to get started with VTL.

With disk space limitations, etc., it still sounds like a VTL would be a
better option. I already have a quote from Cybernetics and will probably
