Unless you have 10GBit local network, check out for any VTL
solution which you can at least hook up to your i with 8GBits
(depending on storage performance).

When you happen to have VIOS, create a NPIV based config so you can
save all your LPARs using a single FC port to the VTL and you do
not block your local network with the FTP traffic.

Also check out Quadstor as an alternative to get started with VTL.
