I have used CHGJOSCDE in an RPGLE program to do this. Just figure out the run date and the next run date.
Make a call to QCMDEXC or use sql QCMDEXC1 and make your change.

Subject: Re: WRKJOBSCDE to be run EVERY Saturday AND the first of each montgh

Hello Alan,

Is this possible within the same job scheduled entry?
I would prefer NOT to have 2 separate job scheduled entries - a new one for the first of each month as February 1, 2020 is a Saturday and I don't want 2 instances of the same job/programs being run at the same time

Unfortunately no, not possible AFAIK.
