Not sure at v5r4 but later OS Console type 00 means no console defined.

Ooo.. I tried port 2300 and got a console screen but Take over the console
. . . . . . . . : NO is shown.

The bottom is an error that says:

"This console type 0 does not match the current system console type."

And I can't seem to be able to do anything from that screen, not even with
a system request.

I think the main issue is I can't log on because of some obscure error
using ACS either because the OS version is too old or something else.
But
I can ping the LAN console IP.

I tried connecting using 5250 to the LAN console IP using ports 23,
2323,
3001, 3002, etc. I can hear the system grinding away but then it stop
and
never connects or gives me a signon.

And as far as the other IP addresses that they system has, I know what
they are but I can't ping them... and it's either because I don't know
which port on the back on the system to plug it into, and/or I'm not
sure
if I can go right from my PC's ethernet port to the IBM i without a
crossover cable or hub.
